AOL Security Interfering with Broadband Access, Maybe.

My brother from Florida is visiting for the summer, and was frustrated using dial-up for his AOL account. So I signed up for a Verizon broadband wireless account using the newest Verizon USB interface. The Verizon software showed that we were connected, but the AOL software would not connect to his AOL account. I poked around the AOL security stuff, but there is so much of it (ridiculous), that I couldn't figure out what to do.

Any suggestions?

If you are connected to the internet there is no need to login to aol to use the internet. You can open Internet Explorer or Firefox and browse the web as well as check your aol account.

You can try to disable you AOL firewall,Open AOL Safety/Security Center, and select disable firewall. (this may or may not work but it sounds like a firewall issue)

If you really want to use the AOL software, make sure you have it set up to look for a broadband connection and not trying to dial a connection.
