Advice on accessing the Internet by plugging a laptop into your cell phone.

Does anyone go online by plugging your laptop into your cell phone?

If you do -- does it work with any kind of laptop? I'm hoping to use it with a Toshiba.

Which phones work? What is the price plan you're using?

I rarely use my cell phone and don't plan on going online via the phone often.

I called Verizon and did learn more about the prepaid plans. The $25 activation fee every time makes it more expensive than I'd care for.

I don't know a lot about cell phones and the various plans. I've looked around the Verizon website and haven't become much wiser, even after email contact with Verizon.

I'd appreciate any input.

Thanks!

Look at the top of this page at "Plans." Under plans, look at "All Mobile Broadband Plans." As you scroll down from there you will find the "Mobile Broadband Connect" plans. There is also a link to which phones are supported.

Thanks. I've figured out which phone will work. Now I hope to verify that a Toshiba laptop is equal to a Netbook.

Toshiba laptop is not the same as a netbook, but there is no reason it won't work. All you need is a USB port to plug the phone into.
