I'm quite happy with my HP Mini 311 after several months, except....
Its annoying tendency to BSOD when I close Verizon Access Manager when I've been on the Wireless connection. Doesn't happen if I've been using WIFI. If I try to cheat and put the netbook to sleep without closing the VAM, it waits till I want to use it again.
My version is 7.2.1.2 (2420b), which seems the latest available for download.
It seems to be getting worse, from once every 4 or 5 times to almost every time.
Hint: If yours is doing this, you can save time getting going again by holding down the power button when the blue screen comes up until it shuts down. Then when you start, tell it to boot normally, several times. The silly microsoft message lets you check for a solution later, or cancel, but doesn't have an option to check now once you get connected.

Have you gone through and done any of the following which may help?
1) Disk Cleanup
2) Disk Defrag
3) Uninstall/Reinstall of the software
You should take note of the stop codes that are displayed when you get the blue screen. With the stop codes you'll be able to get a better idea of why it's really shutting down.
