I have SBC DSL for my home pc and then internet access with verizon netbook. I feel it is pointless to pay for 2 seperate internet connections. Is there a way to connect my gateway netbook to my desktop PC and use it as a modem for my desktop? if so how can i go by it.

I dont believe there is any possible way to use the verizon laptop as a modem since the verizon wireless network is actually built into the laptop unless you have a two way USB cord to connect the two computers...this should be impossible to do generally speaking.
