Cannot connect to DLink 140 Range Booster

The D Link cannot find ip address and therefore does not connect.     It appears in to be connecting but never finishes.    Any suggestions?    We are using a stand alone tower and we were able to connect with the MiFi.    It is XP.

Which MiFi model do you have?

If your DLink booster/repeater is not functioning then you will have to consult with DLink for specific steps and suggestions.  All we can tell you here is that the MiFis operate like any other home wireless access point.  Normally when configuring a booster or repeater you need to have the device search the air for available signals.  Once you attempt to connect to an SSID the booster should prompt you for the WiFi password and perhaps the kind of security that is enabled.  When you do not get an IP Address that normally means there was a password conflict and your booster has not been allowed to connect to the access point.

I would start by re-running your configuration wizard on the repeater and make sure you have everything entered correctly.  The MiFi is not going to care about how the booster is configured and will see it like any other wireless device requesting a connection.

If your booster is somehow not compatible with the MiFis current wireless signal then you could try tweaking simple things like the wireless mode (b,g,n) or the wireless channel (1,6,11).  Wireless security should always be configured to WPA2, you can try disabling security for troubleshooting purposes but WEP and WPA are not worth using and should always be upgraded to WPA2.
