Google maps no longer works

Since the switchover from Alltel to Verizon I have not been able to load google maps in IE 8.0.  I have a Huawei EC228 card, and have tried this on different computers without success.  I am not the only one.  This google forum had several others who have experienced the same thing, but no one has posted a solution.  http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/maps/thread?tid=7fdd2690331c6263&hl=en.  It seems the problem lies on Verizon's end.
