HP Mini WAN option dropped out

Have been using HP Mini almost 2 years; phone modem option page shows un2400 Broadband module "not present" under the "attached to" header.  Is this a hardware problem, or did I lose a program?  Should I try to remove, then reinstall?

The netbook may have been changed to “Wireless” and can be resolved with the switch on the side of the netbook. You can re-program the card again, by using the steps below.

  1. Ensure the device is inserted / connected to the computer.
Note If using a notebook with an embedded module ensure the wireless radio is powered on.
  2. Launch VZAccess Manager.
Note From the Windows desktop navigate: Start > Programs (All Programs)  > VZAccess Manager
Note From the Macintosh desktop navigate: Finder > Applications > VZAccess Manager
Note From the Linux desktop navigate: Applications > Internet > VZAccess Manager
  3. From the VZAccess Manager top menu, navigate Options > Activation.
Note For Macintosh: from the Menu Bar, navigate Options > Activation.
  4. Select OK.

You can use the steps below to determine your signal strength.

  1. Ensure the device is connected to the computer.
Note If using a notebook with an embedded module ensure the wireless radio is powered on.
  2. Launch VZAccess Manager.
Note From the Windows desktop navigate: Start > All Programs (Programs) > VZAccess Manager
  3. From the top menu, click Options > Test WWAN Device.
  4. Review Capabilities in the Test Results.
1xEVDO Digital, Indicates the device is receiving a Mobile Broadband signal.
    1xRTT Digital
Indicates the device is receiving a NationalAccess signal.
    No Service (or nothing displayed)
Indicates the device is outside the Verizon Wireless coverage area.

    Determining signal strength
  • From the main screen of VZ Access Manager, locate the signal strength indicator located to the right of the available network(s).
NoteIf signal strength does not improve, move the device to a location where it receives a stronger signal.
