desertratr, a lot of customers have questions about this device because it enhances the signal in your home a great deal the Network Extender acts as a mini cell tower and a proper GPS signal is required for E911 services here in the U.S.to The Network Extender is equipped with a GPS to provide a location signal for use. Additionally, the unit has to keep refreshing the GPS signal to work, which works like your mobile phone since it’s using the wireless network to work.
Listed below is a link to our website with tons of information about how the network extender works.

Thank you for the reply.
Suppose the unit can't get proper GPS signal, lets say hypothetically because I don't have it near a window and don't have the external antenna set up. Assuming the unit doesn't get a proper GPS signal and as such E911 doesn't work properly, will the unit still function as a mini cell tower and send/receive calls to.from my cell phone?

The network extender will not work without a GPS signal.
