Issues with Intel Core i3 and Verizon Broadband Cards?

I don't know if I am looking in the right place but I work for a retail store doing various installs on computers both hardware and software. I came across a new Asus laptop with a core i3 processor and the customer also purchased a Verizon wireless USB mobile broadband card (not sure of model) with 2 year contract. She paid for me to install the card which I've easily done on other machines. After loading the software, VZAccess could not detect any card for some reason, So I uninstalled and reinstalled and tried again and still nothing. So I tried the card on another machine without the core i3 and it worked just fine so that meant the card was okay. I figured it was a lemon Asus laptop so I switched it out with the same computer. I loaded up the software and VZAccess could not detect the USB card still!! So my question is: is this a known issues? is there a fix?
