Well, apparently, my MiFi is just like the '60-something Cougar I used to have: take it to the mechanic with a deafening roar going on and suddenly, it's cured and the mechanic thinks I'm a whacko. 
Yep, the little fella is cured. At least for the time-being. I'd still like to know if anyone else has had this problem.
