I think i know the answer but would it be possible to get the MiFi 2200 w/ a data plan and then have any Motorola Xoom connect via WiFi regardless if the Xoom was brought from VZW or not?

Sure. But if you buy your Xoom from Verizon, I think you have to buy a data plan for it also. I don't see an option to purchase a Xoom from Verizon without a data plan. I don't think Verizon cares or can control what you use your Mifi for.

At OP: Correct. You can use virtually any WiFi-capable device, including the Xoom, with the MiFi. The MiFi is essentially doing nothing but turning Verizon's 3G network into a WiFi signal for you.
At Jim: Yes, buying the Xoom requires a data package purchase - atleast the $20/mo package. However, one could buy the Xoom with a month-month plan, then cancel the plan and the Xoom would still work fine on WiFi (though you would ofc be charged for any data you used from VZW 3G, which be miniminal or nonexistent while using WiFi).
