Mifi jetpack connection issue
andrew_williams12

I have recently purchased the Jetpack 4G LTE, and I was going about setting it up and registering it.  When the time came to re-name it and create a new password and name for the hotspot I went to the site given, http://vz.hotspot, put in the default password and went forward with the renaming, etc.  I found later that I must have done something wrong, because I had managed to rename the broadcasted SSID, but I my password was still the default.  I tried to reopen the given website, http://vz.hotspot, but each time I try to go to it, it tells me I'm unauthorized.  I want to change the password and to be able to work on the security settings, but it will not allow me to connect with it.  I have internet access, fortunately.  I am just curious if I am doing something wrong?

Hello,

It sounds like you changed the Admin password on your JetPack and not the wireless password.  The Admin password is only used to sign into the admin website.  The wireless password is the one you share with your friends to allow them to connect to your JetPack and get on the internet.

A simple fix is needed here.  I would reset the device back to the defaults and start over again.  There should be a small pinhold sized Restore Defaults button somewhere on the device that will do this for you.  After the defaults are reset make sure to change the correct password and you will be good to go.  If you share your specific JetPack model number we may be able to look up the steps for you.

I just went through all those steps to reset and was successful.  However I've tried to connect a Poloraid Tablet to my Wifi and get the response "Authentication problem".  Would you have any suggestions?

You may have entered the password incorrectly or the password was cached/saved from before.  I'm not familiar with Poloroid Tablets but essentially you will want to delete the saved password for your MiFi wireless network and start over.  Once you have the opportunity to enter a fresh WiFi password you should be able to connect.
