Hey there..., thanks in advance!
I have just replaced my old Dell laptop (w/integrated verizon wireless), but my new Dell Studio XPS 1640 does not have an integrated wireless card.
I have looked on the website, but don't know which wireless option to get.
My new laptop has Windows 7 OS (64 Bit)...
My options are as follows:
USB760 Modem
UMW190 Global USB Modem
AD3700 Global USB Modem
MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile HotSpot
PC770 2-in-1 Card & Express Card
Again, just don't know which one I need to select...
None of them state that they support Windows 7, however, I'm sure that they probably do, but I can't even see if they support 64 Bit OS. Then again, I may not even know what I am looking for..., so, again, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I would really appreciate if you could e-mail me directly if you have any comments and/or suggestions.
Thanks again;
Jason
Jason,
I'm new to this as well so can't offer much in the way of comparison advice, but I can let you know that the MiFi 2200 does work with Windows 7 64-bit. And it offers the ability to connect up to 5 computers to your mobile broadband, while the USB devices don't (by themselves).
Thanks Opal...
I was talking to my IT guy yesterday & when we originally ordered this laptop from Dell..., they didn't have a compatible 64 bit integrated wireless card available... Well, that was just @ the beginning of Jan, however, I didn't receive my laptop from Dell until the end of Feb. Well, he just went & ordered another Dell laptop for another customer & they are now offering an integrated 64 bit integrated wireless card...
Sooooo..., I may need to check w/Dell, probide them w/my Service Tag # & see if they can offer me an integrated card...
Thanks again for the reply and if anyone out there can still answer my original question, it would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks;
JW
