Howdy,
We recently purchased a Network Extender and it generally works, however, every 3 or so days, we have to reset our broadband/wifi/network extender and I have a hard time believing that this is "normal".
1. Problem
The SYS light on the Network Extender will turn from solid blue to a fast blinking red. And, then our phones cannot use the network extender until it gets "reset".
2. Resetting broadband/wifi/network extender (guidance from Verizon Support)
Power off DSL modem, wifi router, and network extender (connected to the wifi via cat5). Power on modem, wifi router, and then network extender (in order). After about 5-10 minutes, I have 4 solid blue lines and am up and running again.
3. Ongoing Issue
The issue is that #1 still occurs every 2-3 days, which requires me to spend 10 minutes (when I or someone else in the house notices it) every 2-3 days doing #2. I'm wondering if I either have defective hardware or if there is a local network configuration issue.
Thoughts? Anyone else experiencing this?
Thanks!
B

Hmm, either of the options for the problem (local config issue or hardware) are viable. Do you have any neighbors or friends nearby using the same device? See if they're experiencing similar problems. If so, likely a local issue. If it's just you, probably hardware.
If you'd like, you could try taking the device into a VZW store with a tech, and have them look at it. They should be able to tell you if it's truly defective. I wouldn't think it would cost much, if anything, to have them check it.

Thanks for the response. I spoke with VZN tech support and they suggested opening up the following ports on my router:
500,4500,52428
I forgot to ask if these are TCP or UDP ports, so I opened both sets last night. I'll give it another week and see how it goes, but if I'm still encountering issues, I think your advice to stop by the VZN store is a good one.
Thanks!
B.

Definitely - sounds like a good idea to me. That certainly might help! Let us know how it goes, so we can help anyone else in the future who has similar problems!
