Network Extender and Charter

Charter recently updated their system to all digital.  Now the television that worked fine need cable box, our wifi router doesn't work and our Verizon network extender stopped working.  After endless hours on phone with Charter with them telling us the problem isn't on their end and a number of service calls, we finally found a service guy who told us that our wifi needed to be 801.11n or newer.  We replaced the router and now its working.  It appears that we will need a newer version Network Extender if we want it to work no Charter.  Lucky for us we are moving and will find someone other than Charter as a provider. 

Has anyone else had problems with other providers?
