Network extender not helping SMS or MMS
ButtersBottomB

Hello everyone,

I have been with Verizon for such a long time, and I am unfortunately getting to my breaking point with them.

I have an Android Note 5 and I cannot get MMS or SMS messages.  I figured it was a network thing because I was also having problems with my old Galaxy S4, and my work phone is a Galaxy S5 (all with verizon), and still have issues.  Basically the messages dont download, and if they do, it is delayed by almost 30 minutes.  Really annoying, I know.

Anyways, I ended up spending money on a network extender, and it really does help my phone calls, but it does not help with my text messages, and that isnt good because it is supposed to, and it is really frustrating to get messages and never see them, because they sit "unable to download" status.

Here is the funny thing that I just found out.  I am on hold with technicial support (for about 30 minutes now, seriously), and all my text messages and group messages are going through and coming in, with no problem!  I come to the conclusion that this is possible because I am on the network extender now because I am actually on a phone call.  So my signal is actually being boosted.

How can I get the network extender to work when I am not on a call, so I can receive and send MMS and SMS messages??

Let me know if I am not making sense...I am tired.

Are you using Message+ for messaging?  It will use wi-fi when it can which will help if you have wi-fi available.

I know how important it is to receive your messages on time, ButterBottomB. Let's make sure there are no more delays. I'm happy to learn you have seen improvement with your calls. When you are not on a call, does your device have an icon indicating it is connected to the extender? This would normally look like a house. If you do not see an icon, try dialing #48 to confirm your connection. Have you added your number to the priority list? If not, you can manage access to the Network Extender by referring to the following links: http://spr.ly/6589BJMYU; http://spr.ly/6585BJMYv

I was under the assumption that Android does not use Wi-fi for any sms or mms.  I will try it out.

But the problem is that the network extender is not helping with text messages at all, when it SHOULD be.  This is a part of the selling factors for convincing us to buy them.

There is a house on my phone, as I am connected to the network extender. It is there regardless of if I am on a call or not.

So I did some of my own research (I have been doing a lot already, but...some more.), and I noticed that when my WIFI is turned OFF, the network extender helps my signal.  WHen I turn it back on....it sucks again.

Has anyone else had this issue?  Obviously my concern that is my data is going to sky rocket so I can send and receive MMS and SMS messages.

Have not tried turning off WiFi.  Have had Verizon supplied Network Extender for 3 years and text mssgs have been problematic.  But last month or so has been excruciatingly bad.  Verizon messages never seem to have a problem getting through.  Group and email originated messages seem to have the most problems; basically any labelled MMS.  Even if trying to send as simple,  plain 140 character text message - - if it gets changed to MMS,  forget it getting out or in.  Been worrisome as my alarm system and other home automation ones all failing  But as i said,  something changed a month ago to make it much worse.  (rebooted all equipment with no help).
