tried checking the http and adding the local ip ( 192.168.1.131 ) after the restart internet port checkers still say its closed. did i miss a step or what have i done wrong

Yup, all custom port forwarding will be blocked by VZW. You need to either setup a VPN or purchase a static IP address from VZW for $500.00 to gain the functionality that you want.
