Samsung 4GLTE MIFI Randomly turns off even though plugged into power

I've had good reception most places, with a few exceptions, and have good connection speeds.

However:

My brand new 4G Samsung Mifi device randomly turns off even though it's plugged into a wall outlet .  It may stay on for 1 minute, or 10, but rarely longer than that.  I'm connected and using the internet as it dies (as it just did a second ago.. time to reconnect... again), so it's not going offline because its connection is idling out.  It simply powers off for no reason.  So - in other words, every 1-10 minutes, I spend about a minute re-initializing my device (turning it on) and re-connecting my computer to its wifi.

Not a very effective use of my time (and.. it just turned off again... going through the process, again)

Help?

Thanks.

I agree with prius4j in stating that this is most likely a battery issue. I too recommend bringing the device to your local Verizon Wireless corporate store for hands-on troubleshooting and possible battery replacement of applicable.

I've had one for less than a day, but have not seen this problem. So yours may be defective. I had problems when I first used it where it would not connect to 4G or 3G, but after charging it fully the problem went away.

Anyway, try charging it fully while it is off, then reset it using the reset button as described in the manual. If the problem continues call Verizon; I found their support surprisingly helpful.

Mine kept turning off when it was not plugged in even though the battery was still showing green (at least 20%).  I took it back to the store today since I'm pretty close to my 14 day return period.  They put in a brand new battery and I fully charged it again.  I have been using it unplugged now for 4 hours without it shutting down at all.  So my issue was definitely the battery.

The other thing I noticed today when I logged into the device manager at 192.168.1.1 is that it is factory set to go into standby mode at 30 minutes of inactivity.  That can be changed to other periods of time or never.  My email program goes out there every 5 minutes so that isn't an issue for me.

I hope this helps someone since this is a great little device!

I have had my Samsung for 3 days and am having the same problem.  When I have connection, it is fast.  It often turns off for no reason, even when plugged in.

I'll try connecting it to VZAccess, and if not exchange it for another device.

My question is, how long does it take to fully charge?  Also, my manuel said that while it is charging it the light will be a solid green, but when it is fully charged it will also be solid green.  If that's the case, when do I know if it's fully charged?

According to Verizon VZAccess does not support it.

There's no good way to check the stte of charge - the Novatel MiFi 2200 has the same problem. When connected you can log on to its web interface with your browser and see the battery status. Mine has never shown full charge, however, no matter how long I charge it for.

I had a slightly different problem, but I believe related. No matter how long I charged the device the battery never showed above 3/4 charge. And I never got a low battery warning, the device would just suddenly shut down when the battery was low.

So today I went to a local VZW store and they replaced the battery for me. I'll report back after I've given it enough time to charge fully.
