I have the 551L and up to date vz access manager. I have tried changing access overload, forcing 3g, 4g, and both only with Cntl+D and nothing keeps the frigging thing connected, mean when it did work once or twice, bf3 was great, and now by the time I connect, it pops up that I was disconnected. I have suspended all USB power saving issues and all and nothing works. Please help me fix this, I have tried different computers, recovery of win 7, and adapter usb cable and nothing works.
Please!

Thrgk,
I'm sorry for the issues you've been having with the USB551L. I do believe the software update will relieve your concerns. I recommend uninstalling the VZAM software from your completely safely and completely. Then follow the installation steps to update the USB device software and install the VZAM program back to your computer. You can find more information about the software update and support online, http://goo.gl/RgV7k.
Thank you,

If you look above, when I go to initialize the firmware update, it says "stopped working" as in the screenshot I posted above. Why is this? This must be what is causing trouble.

I've been having the same issue since "upgrading" to the USB 551L from my 3G device earlier this month. The signal is constantly being dropped, and I frequently have to close & restart VZAccess Manager in order for it to recognize the modem. I never had these issues with my 3G device, and frankly, I wish I'd never ungraded. Very displeased to be spending money on a service that I spend more time fixing than actually using. And yes, the modem software is up-to-date.

Hello mgar,
I regret to hear that you are having so much trouble with your new device! Does this disconnect happen with any consistency meaning after a certain amount of time or while using VPN? Can you confirm the current firmware version of the device and of VZ Access Manager? Have you adjusted the power saving/dormancy settings in Access Manager? I want to make sure we are able to find a solution to keep you connected! I will be eager to get your reply.
Thank You,

I have been fighting the same drop connection problem for the past year with my 551L. I've done everything suggested by tech support including the purchase of an external antenna even though my signal is not marginal. Recently I had the 4/30/2012 firmware release installed (I had to bring it to my local Verizon store because my connection is not reliable enough to download). I was told this is the release that would finally solve the reliability problem so I was actually excited about a simple software release. My frustration has now been brought to an unbearable level due to the continued constant dropped connection problem. No improvement! Shame on Verizon for their lack of meaningful effort to resolve this problem. If you read the reviews on this product(all 160) the common thread is total frustration with dropped connection (4G and 3G). The 551L is an unstable piece of junk that continues to be promoted by Verizon...Shame!!
