USB 727 as GPS? Has anyone been able to get this to work?

One of the things I am missing a lot with my new 727 is the GPS capabilities.

On Sprint, the same EVDO modem was recognized by Streets & Trips 2009 as a GPS receiver.  Unfortunately, when using the Verizon version I can see it listed in Device Manager as COM7 but Streets does not see it as a GPS.  Not having intergrated GPS is a major issue for me because it was a large part of the justification for the EVDO in the first place.

Is there some trick to enabling it?

Thanks,

David

Now that sounds like a cool feature to have. GPS for the PC card. I have a pc card for broadband as well, and I could not find a way to enable location or allow a GPS feature. It may be something you can look where I looked. I checked in Tools>Preferences. This gives alot of options and certainly, if there was a way to enable the location, I would think this is where it would be located.

Unfortunately the option to enable the GPS is not there.

In the Sprint version of the Novatel 727, they have the option under Location Services to enable the GPS.  I even tried installing the Sprint Connection Manager, but it can tell that the 727 is not a Sprint 727, so I cannot change any options

Not sure why Verizon disabled GPS.  :smileysad:
