My usb760 will not stay connected, on some days like this morning, for more than 15 secs. Customer service told me that it was a signal thing; so I bought a $130 external antenna and have maximum bars-->> rssi = ~70db. Yet still, maybe even worse than when I had 2 bars ~95db, I get a sudden disconnect and "device not powered On". I have un-installed the VZA and generic drivers 5 times over the last 6 months to no avail.
The funny thing is that if I do not connect, but just leave it initialized, not connected, showing 2 or 4 bars (makes no difference), it will stay powered on all day ready to connect. Within minutes of connecting the device will power off and require a reboot... or 2... or 3... before it will initialize only to go through this process again. Now tomorrow it may stay on-line all day!
Windows Vista is up to date with automatic updates.
Any ideas on this would be helpful, I am about ready to quit it all together.

I read in another post about the USB power being the problem. So I bought a powered USB buss ($29 Radio Shack) and now I am staying connected a little better, but my signal still goes from rssi 73 db to 117db as soon as I connect.
There is NO WAY to go from ALL the bars to NO bars unless Verizon or the device is doing it. They seem to have a problem somewhere.
I have spoken with enough people who DO understand this stuff (cause I don't) and the likely-hood that a signal can disappear in an instant, remain gone for hours at a time, then come back at full strength and stay there for hours... is NIL, NONE, ZERO. There is some hokey business going on here of that I am 99% certain!
