Wireless Mobile Broadband Routers

I live in a rural area where high speed internet is not readily available, so I am using Verizon's UM175 mobile broadband device attached to my laptop. I have a wireless network running throughout the house, but the internet connection on my router requires an Ethernet connection. I would like to connect my USB internet device to this network, but I was told at Staples that there is no such thing as a male USB to female Ethernet adapter. So now my only option seems to be a wireless router specifically made for a USB mobile broadband device. Can anyone suggest a good inexpensive router that will work with this specific model? I've read that not all USB routers work with all models of mobile broadband devices. Please don't suggest a "hot spot" device. I struggled with the Mi-Fi (Mo-Fo) for two years until my contract ran out. It was the worst product of any kind that I have ever used, and I probably wasted an entire day of my life on the phone with the tech people trying to make it work properly (it never did). Thank you for any suggestions you can give me.

Something like this might work, but I would check on the return policy if it does not.

Your only options are the CradlePoint or Pepwave routers.  You can contact CradlePoint or 3Gstore for details on which routers are compatible with your USB modem.

A quick browse gives me the impression that none of the new cheap routers support your USB modem model. The compatibility chart on 3G store for teh MBR9000 posted above also does not mention the UML175 as a supported USB connection.  I would call and talk to someone before purchasing anything.

Stick to what works, Cradlepoint and Pepwave have the experience, backing, and support required in case you have any issues.  Senior Members and Customers on these Boards have Recommended Cradlepoint and Pepwave for a reason, it just Plain Works!

You don't have to buy one of the more expensive Cradlepoint or Peplink routers. There are mainstream consumer routers that are much faster and offer more features for around the same price that do offer 3g/4g modem support as well through their USB 2.0 ports. ASUS's consumer lineup the RT-N66U, RT-AC66U, and the new RT-AC68U offer 3g/4g modem support and should support your older UM175 but if for some reason they don't you can get the Pantech UML290 off eBay for cheap and just swap your sim as I can confirm it works. I'm using the UML290 with the RT-AC66U and am coming from a Cradlepoint MBR1200.

The ASUS routers support more than what's on that list. Like I said, I'm using the Pantech UML290 for 4G LTE with the RT-AC66U and I get basically the same speeds as I get with the Cradlepoint MBR1400 but the ASUS has faster hardware and blows it away in wireless speeds.

In this case "support" does not mean "limited to".  I'd assume that support means that ASUS will assist you if you have a problem with a supported modem.  Other modems may work with the router, but if there is a problem you are on your own.

I use a Cradlepoint CTR500 and it works great. I live in a rural area with no chance of getting high speed internet.   And I can take the device with me wherever we go.  I purchased it from Cradlepoint and they are very helpful when you are trying to set it up.
