best wireless modem/card advice...

My 2 years is up and I am trying to research modems/cards.  I am mainly interested in connection and speed as this will be used for time critical work.  Must have VPN capabilities as well.  Anyone have any advice on which ones to get or stay away from...or, advice on what to look for?  Thank you in advance!
