I have recently installed samsung hotspot. I cannot get the laptop to connect, although the desktop connects fine. The laptop connection is excellent but shows "limited connectivity" and I cannot get internet. I believe there is security setting that is wrong but cannot find what to change. Verizon support was not able to identify the problem. the admin shows I'm connected.

That did the trick! I knew it has something to do with IP config but I lost "currency" on some of this a few years back when I stopped doing support!

This is great, but when do you ipconfig? I also have a samsung hotspot and is giving me limited connectivity. Do you do this while connected to the device? What are the steps exactly? Thank you

You should run ipconfig /release when you are connected to the Hotspot (specifically when it stops trying to authenticate you to the network and remains stable). Running /release when you are disconnected will not accomplish anything. Steps can be found in the links below.
More info:

ipconfig /release is the most effective when you pull back a 169.254.x.x ip address. You can check ipconfig before you run the /release command to confirm your IP Address. If you are still having "Limited Connectivity" messages after running /release then either your password is incorrect or your wireless adapter is not compatible with the Samsung. Try deleting the cached password on your computer first. When that doesnt work then try switching the wireless broadcast of the hotspot from B/G/N down to B/G.
