My um175 modem when not connected it shows -75dBm then when connecting to goes up to -90 to -95 dBm . And the internet is very slow at that time. Is there something wrong with computer or what. Any help is great. Thank you

Open VZAccess hold down ctrl and press letter d.  This opens a window requiring password, it is diagvzw, press OK.

 

Click Settings then select HDR only, OK.  Give it a few seconds to reset.  This should allow for an EVDO signal reception only.  Check the signal and see if it will allow you to keep this setting (you may have to switch back if EVDO isn't available). 

 

You may have an EDVO signal but when it actually connects to the tower, it connects to the slower 1xRTT.
