usb760 to uml290 migration with $60.00/mo unlimited?

Decided to migrate my still working but worn usb760 modem to a uml290 and I have unlimited service.  Called the customer service folks, and was told that the new modem is not compatible with my plan.

I read over all of the literature I received, and I don't understand why?  I understand about the loss of the ability to upgrade your phone and keep unlimited post June 27, but I am not taking advantage of the "new every two" subsidy, or whatever it is called.  I own both modems free and clear, no contract obligations. We received no notice that my current modem would cease to be migratable post June 27 (yes, I understand you can get 3G modems still, but that day is growing to a close, as those devices cease to be manufactured).

The posts in here are very contradictory as to how to migrate my existing plan to this new device.  I am not interested in the new plans.  We purchased the unlimited plan long ago so we would not have to worry about caps.

Can anyone help navigate the information presented?

You can't.  They completely did away with broadband unlimited.  You should be able to go from 3G to 3G, but as soon as you want to go to 4G they will not migrate the plan over.

4G modems have never been able to use an unlimited broadband data plan. It has been this way ever since the first 4G modem was released in December 2010.

Verizon wants you off that plan. They made it a policy if you change out of the device you have you have to go with a data plan, its been like that for 3 years or so

If you read your policy, you aren't allowed to stream any media such as netflix, amazon prime, pandora.. so if you're doing any of that you're in violation.. cancel and buy internet from an internet service provider

So, if I understand this correctly, 4G LTE phones were available with the unlimited plan, but not modems? I see a few comments in here about people with 4G phones being able to get and keep their 4G service.

Following this thread, I would not have been able to switch to a 4G modem before June, even if I owned it outright, correct?

This is just so confusing.

Yes, that's correct. The smartphone data plan is different from a broadband data plan.

The 4G modems were never allowed on a grandfathered unlimited broadband data plan.

The unlimited smartphone data plan feature was offered and allowed to be grandfathered on 4G smartphones for a time.

Hi jb!  I know you'll really enjoy using one of our 4G LTE Mobile Broadband devices!  In 4G LTE coverage areas, you'll experience up to 10 times faster speeds than with a 3G device!  Just to clear any confusion; all 4G LTE Mobile Broadband devices require a tiered data plan.  Check out "Share Everything Options for Data Devices" at bottom of page here: http://bit.ly/SqA5Az  Thanks!

I got a new 4G MiFi Jetpack and unless you are sitting on top of a cell tower these blazing speeds are not happening for me. I've been in Denver the past couple of days and my Jetpack says 4G but it is not blazing fast. My hotel got three bars, but went to a mall area and got all five bars, but again, the speed was not blazing fast as they claim.

DRH654,

Congratulations on your recent purchase of the 4G MiFi device. We want you to have the ability to connect to the 4G LTE network and enjoy the blazing fast speeds, with out having to sit on top of a cell tower to do it.

I know that you stated you experienced slow speeds in specifically in Denver, are you still experiencing these issues here? What is you primary place of usage for this device. Also have you been able to conduct a speed test by visiting http://www.speedtest.net/.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you so we can get this issue resolved.

Thank you,
