Cannot Log in to this forum with Firefox

It is impossible to log in to this forum with Firefox.  I find it amazing that Vz has created an IE only forum.

Also, on IE, I get warning signals that there are too many scripts running on these forum pages and I am prompted to stop them.

And every page on this forum takes way too long to load.

VERY BAD SHOW from Verizon.  Badly done.

Wrong.

Cannot log in from Firefox.  I have 9.0.1 and I have turned NoScript completely off.

On IE this forum is running so many scripts that IE sends warning messages.

Every page loads very slowly.

I do not have these issues on any other forum - only this one.

This setup is truly awful.  Lithium and Vz are doing an unusually terrible job here.  Vz just doesn't get it.

1) I use Firefox all the time to access the Forums, My Verizon, and other Verizon sites, and it works just fine.You probably have an add-on installed that is causing the problem. I suggest you try starting Firefox without any add-ons to see if it will work that way, and if it does you need to disable and enable various add-ons to figure out which one is causing the problem. Mozilla provides a way to start Firefox without any add-ons.

When you say you can't log in, what do you mean? Do you get an error message, if so, what is it? Are you using a current version of Firefox? I am successfully using Firefox 9.0.1 now, but I did not have problems with several earlier versions of Firefox.

2) I also have accessed the Forums with IE 8 (and Google Chrome), no issues of any kind. Again, I suspect you get the script errors because of some add-on, or maybe a setting you have made.

3) All Verizon websites seem extremely slow to me, not just the Forums. I pay for this great 25/25 internet service and then get awful performance from pretty much only Verizon sites. Incomprehensible.....

Anyway, if you want to take the time to figure out the Firefox issue, try the no add-on startup, if that doesn't work, tell us more about the error and what happens and hopefully someone can help youl. But I can assure you that the Verizons Forums work just fine with Firefox, I have been participating in the Forums for over three years with Firefox.

I'm using latest valid Firefox (9.01) and I am encountering NO difficulties viewing these forums. Try using Firefox with add-ons disabled, and possibly isolate an offending add-on.

I have never before been asked to turn off my Add-Ons in Firefox, nor have I ever found it necessary on my own.  And my add-ons, which are normal security add-ons for Firefox, have never cause a problem anywhere else.  But I tried no-add-ons anyway and this forum DOES NOT PERMIT A LOGIN ON FIREFOX.

I am writing this reply on  IE  but there are so many scripts running here that IE shows "Not Responding" for a few minutes before showing this thread and then this Reply box.

Lithium and Verizon are doing a grossly substandard job here.  That's no surprise because Verizon has no sense for web graphics and usability anyway.   The opposite of a Google.

OK, I guess you don't want help, you just want to complain. Fine, have fun.....

But for the record: the Verizon Forums work just fine with Firefox 9.0.1, with or without add-ons (at least the 18 add-ons that I have running).

I'll accept that, if your  definition of "here" is "there", and not here. As I (and Justin) have tried to tell you, Firefox works just fine for the forums from our vantage.

#2 What version of Windows is it? And please be Specific. Just some example(s)..

#4 What type of Internet Access is it?

#5 What software firewall is on your computer?

#6 What version of Firefox is it?

#7 What version of IE is it?

#8 What anti-virus program is installed?

#9 You did download your copy of Firefox from Firefox's official site - It was not from malware-r-us.com or anything along those lines?

That is plenty of questions for now. I will ask more, as need be.

Upon reflection, I sort of see what you mean.

If ..

#1 Go to http://forums.verizon.com

#2 Log-in.

#3 And don't stop loading the page as soon as I see every forum (for example in Residential Products and Services, there is Verizon.net Email) I get too many scripts running on these forum pages and I am prompted to stop them.

While it would be nice that Verizon fixes the issue, the work around fix is right in front of you.

After you log-in as soon as you see every forum, stop loading the page.

Note: I will load the site again, using Firefox's safe mode.

Again, right now, I had difficulty logging on with Firefox.  I had to hit Trouble Signing On and re-do my password yet again to make any progress.  The initial log-on page for Community Name (glnz) DOES NOT WORK. When I try to use that page, there is a very brief beige bar at top of page indicating a problem with a script -- too fast to read -- and then I am returned to the same log-in page.  Over and over.

Does anyone know how to get Firefox to print a list of add-ons?  If yes, I'll list them here.

Whatever Vz is doing, it is incompatible with normal security protections on Firefox, and IE indicates script overflow to the nth degree.

I've not seen any difficulty with using Firefox on these forums. Right now I'm running a Beta copy of Firefox 10, and every now and again I will bring out a Nightly build to see if there's any speed improvements, since these forums seem rather script heavy for their purpose (they've gotten better recently, though maybe that's because of my browser being more efficient, too). Are you sure there isn't some Add-on such as Adblock Plus or NoScript, or some Setting in Firefox's Privacy Options that are misconfigured?

Yes, these forums do take forever on Netbooks with GPU acceleration running IE9 to render pages from the last I've checked. Disable JavaScript and it flies.

This site is incompatible with basic protections from NoScript even though I am ALLOWING everything from lithium.com, verizon.com and verizon.net.

The warning at the top of my Firefox browser says this:

"NoScript filtered a potential cross-site scripting (XSS) attempt from [http://www22.verizon.com].  Technical details have been logged to the console."

At the bottom of the very long console list of Warnings, there is this:

signin.verizon.com : server does not support RFC 5746, see CVE-2009-3555

Then there is this:

[NoScript XSS] Sanitized suspicious upload to [https://signin.verizon.com/sso/authsso/communityLogin.jsp###DATA###%2FwEPDwUKMTU   …  lots of gobbledygook … GkaqnNw%3D] from [http://www22.verizon.com/content/sso/signin.aspx?goto=http%3A%2F%2Fforums.verizon.com%2Fvrzn%2Fvrzn_... transformed into a download-only GET request.

Above these lines in the Console there are hundreds (?) of warnings involving this site – cannot figure out a way to copy them.

I was able to log in here by permitting an "Unsafe Reload".

  NoScript same as at home (no custom settings and allowing everything from verizon and lithium)

As before from home, I had to jimmy the Vz Forum log-in page by hitting X-STOP in the address bar just as Firefox tried to show me the same XSS issue - THEN (after four tries) I could log in by using NoScript's UNSAFE RELOAD option.

Am I the only one?  Before you write that I have a freak situation -- although it has duplicated itself in a second machine -- please consider whether others are locked out of these forums and so haven't been able to post the issue of being locked out.  In fact, there are a few other references in the forum index to being unable to log in.

Vz and Lithium - this is down to you, and I bet there are lots of folks who aren't here because  ...  they can't get in..

Two amazing bad things about this forum:

FIRST -- A year later, I still cannot log on to this forum from Firefox.  Exactly the same symptoms as I have reported above.

I have seen somewhat similar problems on other forums run by Lithium, although none as bad as this one.

I am able to type this added post only because I have logged on using IE.

This time, I was able to copy the Firefox-NoScript cross-scripting error message.  Here it is:

 This remains a Verizon-Lithium caused problem.  Please fix

SECOND -- I tried to flag the preceding (?) posting by flea as "inappropriate content" and then emailed Vz using "Contact Us" , but got the following email error message:

Check and see which Firefox addons you are using.  Disable them one at a time until you find the one causing the script errors. 

The issue you are having is not a universal one.  Many other members are using Firefox without any issues and I have always used Firefox on the community without any issues that weren't related to an addon within Firefox.

Here is some more information that Vz or Lithium could use to fix this forum:

At bottom below is a screenshot of Firefox - NoScript error console messages -- just a sample portion of a long list of error messages that is generated by attempt to log in on Firefox.  Looks like there are big technical problems with this forum.

In addition to the add-ons above, my security is:

Avast Free AV

AdAware Free

SpywareBlaster - totally passive protection of Hosts file

Spybot S&D - same

NoScript

Better Privacy -- but that does nothing until I close Firefox

Note that I also cannot log on to this forum from my PC at work, which does NOT have the first four of these security programs.  (It does have NoScript and Better Privacy in Firefox.)

If this forum is incompatible with my add-ons in my preceding post and security above -- all of which are typical and advisable -- then Vz and Lithium should fix the undertlying problem.

Justin - please stop shoveling the excuses.
