Simple Termination Fee Question

This is a **bleep** question but, If I wanted to buy a new verizon phone but I havent had my current one long enough for an upgrade, do I have to pay a termination fee to get a new phone? Or because I am staying on the same Verizon Network I dont need to pay a fee? Thanks.
