Why have so many newer threads and boards been archived?

I've been noticing over the past week or 2 that several entire sub-forums have been archived and all the threads in them locked as a result.  While archiving the BlackBerry sub-forum certainly makes sense, many threads just created within this year in other forums have now been archived, and these discussions would still be relevant.

In the past clean-ups I've witnessed, there is usually a period where threads aren't where we expect they to be and a learning curve for the new layout.

I haven't tried the search functionality recently, but hearing it keeps floating ancient threads up from a digital cemetery isn't new and something that could definitely be improved here. I'm not sure if it is how the Khoros platforms for forums works or the search programming for this specific community.

@Nilsa_VZ is the search issue something that can be added to a list of proposed community improvements?

I can understand archiving and locking threads that are over a year old and have no new activity. As long as they are not being hidden and unavailable for viewing it means they are still available for searches for relevant information. There might also be a general cleanup and reorganizing of the community. Newer posts in those sub-forums should be moved to a new "home" if the sub-forum is no longer going to be available.

Thanks for the reply, Ann.  I'm wondering if something got a bit messed up with a recent forum cleanup, because for a bit it looked as if the entire Samsung section had been archived, which doesn't make sense, and there were many new threads which had only been created a month or 2 ago which got archived.  Seems to be OK now.

The search function has always been unreliable for me.  Sometimes I can get to a thread I was thinking of with it, but most of the time, it comes up with threads from years ago which may or may not be useful.
