Please bring back the Preferred Network Type option in the Settings menu

Verizon:  Please bring back the Preferred Network Type option in the Android Settings menu. Other major carriers allow their users to easily switch between network types (4G LTE, 5G, etc,)  from within the phones Settings menu.

With Android 13 the Preferred Network Type option is up to the network carriers to decide if the option appears or not within the Settings menu. Google gave the control of that option to carriers like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc. On Verizon phones we no longer have an option to select Preferred Network Type. The same phone on other carriers DOES have that option. So it's clear that Verizon removed the option from phones operating on the Verizon network. We used to be able to change from 4G LTE to 5G or 5G to 4G LTE from within Settings, but Verizon took it away with Android 13. 5G is usually pretty good in my area,  but when it does go down like yesterday it's frustrating that we can't easily switch over to LTE temporarily with a simple toggle in Settings.

No response from a Verizon employee? Has anyone at Verizon even read this? Does anyone at Verizon even know that you removed this option from our Settings menu?

I don't think the CS reps who check the forums have much ability to change that policy, but I too wish one could band select manually.  Maybe Verizon got afraid that everyone would pick 5G only all the time and bog that part of the network down to where it becomes unusably slow?

Correct, I am well aware of the tiered support system used by most tech support sites. I used to manage an IT tech support help desk. The people that read these posts have the ability to escalate to the people that do understand the issue and can do something; if they chose to escalate.

I would say it's the opposite, Verizon does not want people to manually switch to 4G when their 5G network is not working well because that would be admitting that their 5G network still has issues and is not always working optimally.

Open Dialer and press *#*#4636#"#*

Choose (Phone Information)

Select (Preferred Network Type)

Choose (NR/LTE)

NR is 5G. Any other options that currently show when as selected. Say CDMA, GSM etc, select the NR/LTE option with those current options following. Basically it will be in order of preferred networks ๐Ÿ˜‰
