Wi-Fi Calling Issues

After not being able to make or receive calls or text messages for over 90 minutes last night at home I switched from my home SSID 5Ghz band that I normally use to xfinitywifi SSID and all of sudden it was like the flood gates opened wide and I received 12 test messages from my family. Then today I was doing a fairly exhaustive Internet search and found out that xfinitywifi uses the 2.4Ghz band, and that unless you are a close proximity of your wireless router the 5Ghz band doesn't work too well, even though Verizon and Xfinity won't tell you it is best to use the 2.4Ghz band for Wi0Fi calling on your phone.
I hope this helps anyone who's has been frustrated by the lack of knowledge from the support staff with Verizon or Xfinity.
