Loaded the new 2.2 OS last night and at first it was doing good. Alittle slow but just guessed that was all the new setting working its self in. Restarted my phone to see if I could run alittle better but it removed all my icons thats I had on my pages and added the News & Weather bar and a google search bar. Now all my apps seem to be running like crap and my browser keeps crashing. Not sure what I need to do to have the new OS work right or better. I have restarted my phone a few times and things havent changed like they did that first time. Plus my battery life sucks now and it running 10 times hotter then before. Will a factory reset fix it?

Try taking the device into your nearest Verizon Wireless store and have a Technical Support agent look at the device for you to find a fix for the issue that you are experiencing. Thanks!

It doesn't do any good to go to your Verizon Store. I did this on the 22nd and they have no fix. They also can't get me a replacement phone as they all have been "taken off the shelf". My phone will no longer charge past 40% and burns through the battery in under an hour - without using it. I need a solution.

Hi,
I tend to see this problem a lot with new upgrades. My best suggestion is to turn off the device, take out the battery, and let both components cool off (or air out) for about two hours.
If you're using a phone case, try taking that out as sometimes it can really hinder the quality of the phone. Plug in your phone after you've let it sit, and let the device stay on it's own for about 10 minutes.
If after that it's still messed up go to your local VZW store.

With all the reported problems because of the 2.2 upgrade (pardon the use of the word upgrade), can I not install it whenever the OTA gets around to my phone? After reading all the horror stories, I really have no desire to have a broken OS on my phone when 2.1 works perfectly well. Should I just keep hitting the install later or is there a way to block the OTA completely?

I haven't had much problem with the updates until today. I got the update on the 19th and it installed fine. It was a little laggy, so I did a battery pull and it was okay. Did another later when it seemed a little funny, but otherwise okay.
Now my phone has twice today gone black and froze. I can't turn it back on or off or anything until I did a battery pull and restarted it. The restart took longer than normal as well and I was afraid it would get stuck on the M screen. But it's working now. Not sure what caused this problem. But I also notice my battery life seems to have gotten significantly shorter. And I only got my droid maybe a couple of months ago.
Texting was also weird lately and messages weren't going through, I uninstalled handcent and it seems better now, though.
Just not sure what is going on with my phone??

yes and no. It's possible but unfortuntately there's no non-warranty voiding way.

i haven't had major bug problems with the droid other than battery usage... (knock on wood) but when they "upgraded" it some functions are alot slower and i prefered the old touch keyboard... they totally screwed that up... and what is the deal with instead of being able to mute the phone with the volume buttons it only goes to vibrate now?????
is it just me or is the term upgrade..... just another way of saying new bugs?
