2.2 "upgrade"

After some 25 plus years of loyalty to Motorola... Even after suffering through the Q I remained a Motorola customer... Then along comes the Droid X... Like an idiot I down loaded the so called 2.2 "update"... Should have learned from my Q experiences that Motorola is incapable of getting a software update correct... Soooo after the update, my new X starts locking up...  No problem, Verizon has me run a full wipe out...  Nope, soooo they send me a so called just as good as new "certified" refurb in exchange for my new X... Kinda like buying a new car and the dealer delivers a "certified" used car... Well lo-and-behold... After two days the just as good as new refurb will not run Bluetooth... Will not pair with my car system.. And guess what.. I just got to run another wipe out...nope.. No fix... Verizon is offering me another just as good as new "certified" refurb... I don't think so...

With the purchase of a NEW device I agreed to a 2 year CONTRACT.. The fAilure to deliver the new working phone that really does work would appear to be a breach of contract... And the end of a relationship.
Thanks for nothing... So remove me from any further solicitations...

Doesnt the manufacturer warranty mean it comes from manufacturer? anywho, On the Motorola Q.. I ABSOLUTELY HATED that device.. OMG that was one of Motorola's biggest mistake. It would always freeze, had low memory... at one point in time it had no mms.... you are brave to have endured that phone. Also well the bluetooth, is it only with the car? or with every device? I dont think that many people have problems with this phone. People rarely complain for a good working phone but when one messes up ooooh lordy.

I was told that the "certified just like new " (**bleep**) came from Motorola... The device worked perfectly until
the make believe upgrade... To which both Verizon and Motorola acknowledge there is an issue with
the upgrade... Amazing, yet again they screw up... And the customer gets screwed... Already switched my Mi-Fi
Service to Virgin Mobile... Unlike Verizon, true unlimited service, end at $40 per month... instead of make believe
Unlimited Verizon at $60..

Let's take a look at that Virgin Mobile coverage map again... Based on what I saw and my traveling habits, I'd take my chances on a 3rd or even a 4th Droid X. Coming from a guy who actually liked the Moto Q, except for the small screen. Oh yeah, and WM 6.5. There is help and good suggestions around here if you read more and type less. No, we shouldn't have to work this hard to solve provlems that the carrier and manufacturer should solve. But if you look around, its that way everywhere. And whose idea was out to put your phone number in a public forum? Yours or the iPad's? Already broke my own rule today. Darn... Geri O

I actually enjoyed my Moto Q and Q9c.  You have to take a device for what it is.   Not all devices are for all people.

Posting a phone number on a public peer to peer help forum isn't the best idea.

I keep hearing how lousy the Virgin Mobile/Sprint service is "supposed" to be...

To date, my experience with my Virgin MiFi is every bit as good as Verizon...

2 Campbell soup cans connected by sting is better than AT&T... as for the Q...

I was literally one of the 1st 150 people to receive (get stuck) with one... the 1st

software update actually fried it!!!... When I mentioned to a Verizon store manager

that I had owned a Q... and then really blew it on a Blackberry Storm... he commented

that he was surprised that I was still a Verizon customer...

Only one person gets to ship a product... and then fix it... his name is Gates... and then

only because he has little real competition for an OS...

Poor Sting. I hear he's doing MUCH better these days... :smileyvery-happy: . I do agree totally with the sentiment of the entire sentence, though.

I never said the Virgin service was lousy (I'll leave that alone, too). I can't see doing what I need on the Sprint network. If it works for you, that's great.

And I still say that the people most concerned with handling a phone while driving are the ones eating  and changing radio stations the most (or putting on make-up, depending on your persuasion).

Windows 7 is the most complete, best-working version of Windows yet (still not where is could be, but...). Thanx, Apple and/or Mac and Linux.

Is the 2.2 Upgrade the one that requires me to now unlock my phone every 15 minutes.  And per support I can't revert back to the previous software?  They tell me if enough of us complain they will change it back. Am I being **bleep**'d.  If so lets wait for the first person to be unlocking their phone unnecessarily while driving and that resulting in an accident.  I know I never would have bought that phone had I known it required this.

I don't have to unlock my phone every 15 minutes.  I've used my phone in cardock mode with Nav for a 6hr drive without it turning off.

And just so you know, no matter how many people complain, you cannot reinstall 2.1 onto a 2.2 bootloader.

ditto to what CRB said ...   I have an APP called "Car Home" that I launch.  Unless I purposely press the "lock" button on the top of the phone, it stays UP and LIVE for the duration I leave it there. I'll have NAV running - and have done so for a recent 2+ hour trip. Works great - no "unlocking" required.  (and no crashes, or rebooting either.)

You could also go into Settings-Screen Timeout-Never timeout, and it should not fall asleep.

My car Bluetooth stopped working yesterday AM and I cannot get it to connect again.  I just purchased the DROID X phone on the 22nd.  The Bluetooth worked fine on 22nd and 23rd.

I've had cell phone from the inception... $45 per month and $.45 per minute... Always with built in hands free... That would be over 27 years... In spite of the $800 per month (in '83 dollars!) I sometimes long for those days... Fewer people had phones... Far more courtesy...
