2.3 gingerbread nd why Verizon is money hungry

As little as I like this terrible forum,  we will see if this gets blocked, It will just show how much Verizon wants to block your freedom of speech with their "forum terms"

2.3 Gingerbread is out has been out is stable unless your a **bleep** that is not able to follow some simple instructions.

Where is Verizon.......well I don't care I pay them for my service not to tell me what I can and can not do with my phones.

All the stories you here the weak members of this forum telling you about how you can brick your phone, their unstable, they boot loop, they freeze, is total **bleep**. Please don't listen

Verizon is looking for money, that's the only reason they will not let you talk about R word we shall not speak here.

Verizon where is the freedom of speech, where is the freedom in general?  Wait that's right its all about you making money.  If the CLNR program changes I heard about are true well $299 for any defective smartphone exchanged (that's if its damaged) and well damaged might be way less then what you think.  That's just sick.

Verizon forum = we all have no idea what our device can actually do

Sorry but its true

Put your foot down people you paid for your device should you not be able to use it to the best of its ability?  Would you buy a new 4 door car with the back doors forever locked, just because the company didn't want you back there???

If your looking for all you can get out of our device, keep an eye out, Ill make sure (even if its deleted over and over again) you get the info.  If you are not sure what I'm talking about well think of everything you do on your phone doing it 10x faster, no lag, no **bleep** added apps from Verizon that you do not want. (Note Verizon let apples devices they are selling to be released with no add on APS, that you couldn't take off)

Think;

More speed, downloads uploads and phone in general.

Free...To make your phone look how you want it to and do what you want it to.

No wait on updates, they come as soon as their out (No waiting for Verizon's **bleep**) you get the good stuff when its good not when it already old.

Step up people, don't be afraid, plenty of real tech people are out there to help you,

Bring it MOD's if you wish :smileyhappy:  were ready we have already seen how you let some of your members get away with **bleep**.

Smurf

I have read about the leaked GB.

I see many people are having problems with it, leds no longer blinking, cameras not working, some apps not working, resets, etc.

Every company wants to make a profit, if you think Verizon is the only one you're insane.

AT&T doesn't even allow their Android phones the ability to sideload apps.

If you aren't happy with Verizon, they aren't holding a gun to your head forcing you to stay with them. You have the freedom to move onto another carrier.

This really isn't about money, when the proper steps isn't followed to verify the software is stable and is released with any bugs the users will start complaining that Verizon should have fixed the issues before releasing.  You can not complain when you try to force them to release a update before it is completed because the software has to be compatible and stable with 1000's of apps in different configurations depending on the users device.  Testing things like this isnt as cut and dry as you would believe.

Besides the leak version seems to be a modified ported version for the Droid X and there has been a few bugs and hiccups reported that needs to be addressed before being released.

pool_shark most of these issues are coming from users restoring settings with Titanium Backup from 2.2.1 into the new build but the settings wasnt compatible.

Seriously?  If VZW wasn't about making money how exactly do you think they would stay in business?

As for Freedom of Speech, maybe you should review the requirements for using Freedom of Speech.  This is a private website and the Supreme Court has already ruled that Freedom of Speech does not apply in Private venues even if they are open to the public.

I agree with the OP. I was [Edited to comply with Terms of Service] and I'm stock now. It opens your device right up. It's sad to see all of these people go for iPhones because they look "cute" or they're so simple...too simple.

Verizon is going to hold out the Gignerbread update on us until the Thunderbolt gets it because they don't want to keep their brand new device behind an older device? **bleep** Verizon? Ever heard of seniority? Us with the Droid X's should get it before any other Android phone still in service for Verizon.

Sadly, hardly anyone knows what Gingerbread or Froyo is. Too many mindless users.

P.S. I've SBF'ed twice to fix the problems with my phone. Verizon employees would've just told me to 'factory reset'. I did it the good way. Bye.

Basically all companies are about making money but I really don't see not releasing of Gingerbread 2.3 for Droid X being about money...  Just seems that this is just users wanting something and wanting it now mentality.  There is only one device that presently has Gingerbread and this really had more to do with Google than the carrier.

Basically its not a winning situation because if it gets released now with bugs there will be complaints and if they hold off for more testing there will be complaining....  I do not see this going anywhere no matter how it ends up..

So many false statements where do you start...  VZW releases the updates as they are ready for the device.  Motorola does the 2.3 update for the Droid X, so how do you connect it to the release for an HTC product?

Droid 1 got flash and 2.2 before the Droid X, and this was while the Droid X was their hottest new product.  So that just shoots all sorts of holes in your theory..

If you had to SBF twice, maybe you should learn what you are doing and stop messing stuff up.

@crb79

Yeah, I messed up. You know what that means? That means I wanted to learn about my device. I'm not a mindless iPhone user that is easily amused with a locked-down phone that has no diversity to any other iPhones. They are all the same. Same manufacturer, same OS, same general look (black and silver)...the users, man, they're the worst. The run around bragging "OOH I  GOT AN IPHONE!" Good for them, I suppose, but little do they know, they basically bought a microwave that half the buttons don't work on, yet, they'll be completely satisfied because they're oblivious to the true capabilities of their phone.

I originally had a Droid Incredible and I [TOS Violation]'ed it to fix the battery meter and remove a bunch of crap that Verizon put on it that I would NEVER EVER USE. 3G Mobile Hotspot? Not paying for that if I have unlimited 3G data. Are you kidding? CityID? Give me a break. I RUU'ed it back to stock and sold because I got the Droid X. Now, this phone is a beast. I {TOS Violation]'ed it to get a black status bar because we ALL know how bad Motorola fails with UI's and how ugly theirs is compared to Vanilla Android. I failed at doing this so I SBF'ed and tried again. Success. Liberty ROM. Very nice. But, then, I SBF'ed back to stock and have been stock for about 3 months.

Anyways, really, no one cares about flash player. What does it do? Give me advertisements on websties? Woohoo. An OS update to the latest Android is more important. Blah blah blah, Droid Incredible got Froyo before the X okay. But, Verizon's Tbolt is their first 4G phone and they're holding out the Gingerbread update on us so that the T-Bolt can get it first...or they're holding out on us to put more bloat on it or track our [TOS Violation]'ed phones.

Thanks Verizon.

djsmurf, stay in school, or go back......

"your" is shows possession.

"you're" is a contraction, an abreviation for "you are"

"here" refers to location.

"hear" is the act of listening.

"their" shows possession.

"there" shows location.

"then'' refers to time.

"than" refers to a comparison of something.

I could barely understand his point, but it was possible.

Eitherway VZW, you rejected Gingerbread? Hurry up and update our Xs, we're always last in line to get them.

I don't know about that, ZeitFist. I wouldn't say the DROID X is the last in line to get OS updates. The Samsung Fascinate crowd is still waiting for FroYo. There are also only the Nexus One and Nexus S phones with Gingerbread available now with a few phones about to be released with Gingerbread as their baseline OS system.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Actually I kind of like the little HTC Aria. The Captivate was the only other option in the free choices. I couldn't get past the Touchwiz and the GPS issues. It will be both a sad day and good day if the network forces me to send it back within the 30 days. Sad for the nice device and good for getting rid of the nonexistent network that I think I am going to experience.
