With the talk of other phones getting the 2nd update, I'm wondering where is mine? My Droid is patiently waiting but I am getting antsy. Come on Big Red, show me the love.

Heh.  I was just in a Verizon store earlier today asking about this.  Some rep with the same phone said they had the same problem, and I guess we'll just have to wait. But yea, I'm in the same boat, sadly, waiting impatiently.  The update was supposedly rolled out on the 24th.  Well, it's August 28th and still no sign of the 2nd update on my end either... :smileysad:

I went to my local Verizon store this morning for that very reason.

The techs there said that while they -could- do it, I probably wouldn't want them to.

When I asked why, they said they couldn't just install the 1.6Mb patch, but instead they use the "brute force" method which means wiping your phone and starting over - activation, re-download and install all your apps, etc...

They're mainly doing it this way to help people out who have issues with the first update, or their phones aren't responding, that sort of thing.

I told them never mind... I'm not in that big a hurry.

Ok so I've had the new update for about two weeks now, and it absolutely stinks. the battery life is a lot worse, it freezes more often than it did with the original, and worst of all it texts the wrong people when im texting. I will click on a friend to text and it will say that persons name, then wen i text them, it sends it to the wrong person and texts someone completely random out of my phone book. IT IS THE MOST ANNOYING THING EVER. My private messages are meant for the person I am sending it to and not other people out of my phone book. To make matters worse, I went to the Verizon store to get it checked out and they informed me that there is nothing they can do until they send out a new update, that was over a week ago, and i have been texting the wrong people everyday since then new update. If Verizon doesn't fix this then I'm gonna switch to someone else cause this isnt the first problem I;ve had with them and it seems like there doing nothing to get this fixed.

That's the site I used and I just installed the new, Flash 10.1 capable update. Why wait for Verizon to decide your status in the line? I see from multiple postings that the OTA updates are causing some phones to go into a snit but I have had No problems whatsoever -- in fact my phone is faster and the battery issues are non-existent for me.

Since I did my own OTA UPDATE I have had no I repeat NO problems. My ph is faster an battery is better u must remember u can't have every app open an running. If u have to get an app killer also start moving apps to sd card free up ur droid let it breathe. Peace ya'll
