So I am on my 3rd Droid X in a little over a year and I have had numerous problems since the ill-fated Gingerbread update. I know that the recent updates that have been pushed out were supposedly to fix issues, but they seem to create just as many issues as they fix. Like many other DX users, I have been having issues with the phone freezing, not responding, dropping 3G hotspot coverage, unmounting SD cards, navigation not working...etc...etc.
I went to VZW today with the hope that they might let me upgrade my phone even though I'm technically not eligible unitl 8/2012. The rep in the store told me that everytime they do an update, it takes up more memory on my phone, thus the phone just keeps getting slower and slower. When I asked what I'm supposed to do when my phone is useless after another update, he told me that he didn't know. He did offer to send me yet another refurb DX, but I doubt that will fix my issues.
1. Is the rep correct in telling me that each time my phone is updated, it takes more memory and drags down the speed of the phone? Or is there something that I can do to cut down on some of these issues?
2. Has anyone been succesful in getting VZW to let them get a different device despite not being eligible for an upgrade? If so, how?

Just wanted to ask when you had your first X did they instruct you to Do a FR a factory Reset or just replace it i've had my X for now over a year bought it the day after the X's release last year an its been thru the three Os's Eclair ,Fro-Yo an now gingerbread i've experiences some little minor issues but when i done my updates i eather did a Fr before or after the update so to keep my issues to a minimum don't get me wrong i too have a issue now an then but the FR has helped a bunch on my X. you might ought to give this a Try. An just to note they can do FR's at the store an or Teck Services can walk you thru it if you wrather do it at Home just remember your need a seperate phone Too talk on so they can Guide you the Fr on your X .
