Morgan has mentioned that the discount is for Contract end dates in 2010. So if you're new every 2 is in Nov, your contract end date should be Jan/Feb 2011, which puts you a couple months out unfortunately.

PS....
My order is now processed and supervisor approved, will be delivered by 10:30 A.M. Friday the 16th. I managed to snag it for $53.19 due to discounts I had on my account.

Oh this is unbelievable. I just sold my Motorola Droid because I had a phone on my account due for an upgrade in October. Now I am finding out the upgrade only applies to the CONTRACT date and therefore I can't get the pricing until February 2011?
Nice. Thanks Verizon for making that so clear.
NOT.

I got the phone ordered last night, but let me tell you my scenario. 3rd phone is upgradable in October, so they used a 3G phone upgrade promotion, which got me the phone for $199 because of the online discount too. My 2nd line is also eligible and it is upgradable in 06/11. ask for the 3G phone upgrade promotion. she had to put it thru several times before it ook, but thats probably because the phone literally became available as we were speaking.

Yes, I am all happy about getting my phone ordered, but I was a bit disappointed when it came time to order online that the overnight shipping was $8.99 instead of free like it said on the homepage for Verizon. Then I check out some forums and find out that some people get it free while others, like me, do not. I live in South Dakota. I hate FedEx for this single reason, they never deliver on time. My free shipping said 2-day, but the FedEx tracking says it will be here on July 19th...of this I have no doubt.
I am thinking that Verizon allowed free overnight shipping for certain geographical regions. "Boy, those people that live in the sticks are used to waiting." I could have used this phone for my trip, but now I won't even get it delivered because FedEx will not deliver without someone there...Thanks Verizon.

Nope, you had to put the code: freeovernt in when you did your online order.

Oh Hell! I can see that now...I was really tired at 12:15am. I should have just got a good night's sleep before ordering. Oh well, I did get some really good discounts.I did call FedEx and the rep told me to have Verizon call them and they could upgrade it. So the rep at Verizon called and put me on hold and came back and told that they( FedEx) told them it was impossible to do so. Who do you believe? I will have it in a few weeks, I guess.

If you clicked the Learn More button about overnight shipping, you would see there was a promocode you needed to enter to get the next day shipping.
Only the first delivery does someone need to be there. They leave a card, sign it requesting the package be left, leave it on the door and it will be left.

I actually wasn't able to upgrade. I had one agent at first who got very far, but then came back and told me that I was actually not eligible. So I called again, and got an agent who told me that we were eligible, but only the primary line is eligible. Is this true?
