I've had the .902 update for three days. The data is much more stable and just works better overall with few if any data drops. Reception seems improved too. Wifi and bluetooth are improved. The phone is more stable. I have had no BSODs or force closes of any kind so far. The phone is faster. You can really zip from screen to screen. My Bionic performs the way I wish it did from the start. I think Motorola got it right this time.
I have not noticed any change in battery life. I suspect those that had the worst problems with data switching back and forth will see some improved battery life, in part, because the data connection is so much stable. For the rest of us, I don't know how much difference it will make. It shouldn't hurt though!

FYI
5.9.902.XT875 has just been made available for all Bionics. Apparently it has now been officially released as of this afternoon.
The update has been unbelievably stable with NO data drops since I installed it on the 7th. That includes switches between 3G and 4G LTE areas.

The official update started rolling out last night. It will be released in groups until everyone gets it. You can also click settings>About Phone>System Updates to manually download the update.
I was part of the soak test and received my update last Tuesday.

Wow. There is a new update! I loved my Bionic, but the occasional 4G drops on the hotspot was bothersome.

You should call Verizon tech support. Those guys are pretty good at troubleshooting problems.
It is hard for me to believe that you would get two phones in a row that would shut down when wifi is enabled. This is not a bug that the Bionic suffers from. You may have an app installed that is creating a problem, or some setting you changed, something you installed like a battery saver program perhaps, or some other problem like your sim card or micro sd card. Perhaps you went into the Task Manager and disabled some feature that wifi needs?
Hopefully this will give you some ideas to pursue. Good luck!
