Ok people- after reading all the blogs and posts in regards to the Froyo update and checking my Droid once every 3 minutes for the past 2 weeks I finally decided to call customer service to see if I could get some answers! Here is what I was told-"The updates are being done in the order that the phones were purchased." Now I am not saying I believe or don't believe that answer so I am asking people that have received the update to reply with when their Droid was purchased! Judging by the answers so far I would guess that the answer they gave me was {please keep your posts courteous}! I am not surprised - You would think that both Verizon and Motorola or maybe even Google would post updates on things like this so everyone would know what is going on! I am sure if they did it would make things easier on their call centers and eliminate the need for the customer service reps. to lie!

That's a bunch of **bleep**!!! Someone came up with that answer to shut ppl up and stop them from calling in asking about it. I got my droid the 3rd day they were out! So it shouldn't take til the last day of the rollout to get it! I'd be happier if they came out with a statement or sent me a text saying, "hey, look, we're still having issues with it, be patient and once we get all the kinks out, we'll send it out to everyone". I'd be happy with that answer than this speculation garbage! If they really think that keeping the Droid 1 customers lingering about the 2.2 update is going to force me to get the droid 2 just because it has it already, well they need to fire they're marketing team and start over! This is bad business!

I feel the same way you do!! I'm so ANGRY that I bought my Motorola droid back in December, and asked Verizon sales people specifically about the ability to use flash and tether and they assured us that it was coming in the FIRST half of 2010! So we've been patient and loyal customers! Now they come out with the Droid 2, which has 2.2. pre-loaded and I'M STILL WAITING FOR MY UPDATE!!!!
My husband got his a little later than me (and he got his update) and my friend got hers before me (and she got her update), but I haven't gotten an update yet.
We've been Verizon for a LONG time and have a family plan (3 phones) and all three are Motorola droids! I'm just really disappointed with Verizon and might just let this contract run out and switch to AT&T and the iPhone.

@RuthWT
Switching to AT&T would be a bad plan. I know serveral people that have an iPhone (including my girlfriend). The biggest issue is the service. But the phone isn't all that great either. I've been walking through the mall when my girlfriend, her son, and myself check our service. I usually have 3G full bars. her son (with an AT&T GoPhone) will usually have edge and a few bars and the iPhone will be lucky to have signal at all.
And let's not forget that Apple stated that Flash would never be supported on a mobile device. Froyo is proving that wrong now.
Just be paitent, relax and drink some booze. The update will get there.
I haven't received mine but I know its coming and that is good enough for me.

Okay on one of the other forum questions similar to this one of the moderators stated that Verizon was releasing it randomly to all Droid owners. My Domestic Partner got his update yesterday afternoon around noon EDT. I still haven't gotten mine. There could be some truth to that though it could be a random selection of a certain number of owners based on when they got their phones. So in a since they wouldn't be lying just not telling the whole truth. The explaination to their customer service reps was probably either so long and worded they either didn't understand or just got bored and only heard part of it. I know that happens in my company all the time, then you have the old he said she said bit. So we all know people are getting it, besides my partner I have two friends that have gotten it so I know its coming. I'm going to be patient and wait. Though yes I check every so often but I'm not OCD that I check every three minutes just every 5...LOL. Come on Froyo I wanna play!!!!

I bought my DROID in April at Best Buy and got my update to 2.2 on Sunday morning. I'm having all kinds of problems wth things though. The SiriusXM app is not working and apparently they're working on a fix for that. The home screen seems to lock up and not show the icons/widgets requiring a froce close and reboot of the phone, rotating the phone and the orientation doesn't adjust as smoothly as it did with 2.1.
Now I will say that I like that there is now signature capability in the email application and the corporate calendar has been merged with the regular calendar, and i like the phone and browser being part of the tab at the bottom of the screen where you used to slide up to sow all your apps. Now you push the center. The phone seems faster too.
There are plusses and minuses, and I have read that Verizon is apparently aware of the 2.2 issues on the DROID and is supposedly working on a fix. I don't have Flash yet either. Tried to download yesterday with no luck, and I made sure to allow for no market apps to be allowed too.

Well, if you bought the Droid X you bought it with the understanding that android 2.2 would be automatically downloaded late July....that's why the problem...when microsoft sells a new opeating system and you buy a computer with an old version on it MS gives you a free upgrade...so you can get right away...

What difference does it make and why would it possibly matter who is first and who is last as long as everyone gets it. Also, why would Verizon need to tell anyone in advance? Does Microsoft tell us in advance every time they update Windows XP? Everybody just needs to relax. You'll get it when you get it.

If I bought the Droid X, I would be posting in the Droid X forum, not the Droid forum.
