Alarm Clock/Timer pretty much useless.

Before the 2.2 update I had the normal low volume issue. After the update the notification and ringer volumes are fine. Last night i was playing around with the DX and set the alarm clock. When it went off if it wasn't for the vibrate and rattling on the table I never would have known. I have the alarm volume up all the way. I hope there is a solution, not that I'm going to depend on the DX as an alarm clock, but it's the only issue I have with the phone to this point.

Do you have "Use increasing volume" checked?   I can here mine over my clock alarm while 3 rooms away after it reaches its peak level.

My X doesn't have that choice and the volume is so weak it's useless

every droid x has the stock alarm clock and the same options mine works best when rather using increasing volume just use max volume and turn vibrate off ....i use the 3 beep alarm near the stop of the stock ringers and unless i forget to turn my volume up it works perfect  everytime ....but of course nothing beats the good old alarm clock you plug into the wall with the brain penetrating buzzing

Under each alarm, the next to the last option is labled Volume with a check box.

Thanks found it. I might have to get an mp3 or something  to wake up to . The rooster seems to be the loudest tone but discusting.

Thanks again

In general, I have found that relying on ANY phone alarm to wake up by can be pretty risky. I downloaded a tone called "Danger"from one of the big free ringtone sites (also part of the iPhone tone collection) , ran it through Audacity to normalize (and hopefully maximize) its volume, it has never failed to wake me up.
Having said this, I had to send a memo around to the techs and staff here that said I will NO LONGER accept "i didn't hear my phone alarm go off" as a valid reason for being late. Yes, it got that bad.
