After careful review, I learned this is an issue known to HTC who are in the process of creating a fix which would be pushed directly to your phone once completed. I apologize as I have no timeframe or additional information regarding these messages being deleted. I am also sorry to explain that once they are deleted from your phone, the messages cannot be retrieved.

Mine did the same thing! Even ones that were locked!! And I know I had the box checked (or not checked) to NOT delete them!
Someone please tell us what is going on!

I sent an email to Verizon. Should get a response in 24 hours or less... I will post their response. Sorry this happened to you too. Hope this is not a frequently recurring problem.

Did you happen to get any response from Verizon? I woke up this morning & all my text messages were totally gone. I as well am very not happy about it, but at least feel a little better knowing this is happening to others.

I just called Tech supports and they claim it is because of an app that I have downloaded... The ONLY app I have on the phone, is the one that the guy at the store put on there - the Advanced Task Killer. He "Highly Recommended" that I put it on there to save the battery life and he loaded it on there for me and they are saying that's what caused the problem. I am very very upset about this. I use this phone for business purposes and now, all of my messages are gone and there were several things that needed follow up. Very Very disappointing.

I don't have that app...so what's the excuse then? ugh
super annoying. Instead of creating NEW phones/items- fix the ones you have out already!

Yep - this happened to me too...about a week ago. I lost all of my texts including the ones I had locked. That is the point of having the option of locking texts if they will be deleted anyway? Some of these had important business emails and contacts saved in them. Thank God I had them other places as well and this was just a back up but VERY DISAPPOINTING.

Actually Task killer drains your battery more. Deleted messages have nothing to do with the apps or your settings. This keeps happening to my phone since the day got the Incredible when it first came out (I pre-ordered it) and before I ever added any apps at all. Also my settings are set to never delete. Locked messages also get deleted. The storage has also been set to the SD card. I have tried everything already suggested and again this morning all messages were deleted. I now use a SMS backup program so I was able to restore my messages with that. If you don't backup your messages, they will get deleted again and again and again until you change platforms or service providers. Verizon acts like they have never heard of this issue before but it is a very old issue. If you do your research you will see tons of people are having the same issue not only with the incredible but with all Android phones. Verizon acts completely unaware and has no plans to research and fix it. Your only options is to keep backing it up everyday and hopefully move to the IPhone at upgrade time. Thanks Verizon so much for acting like you care about the issues your customers have been having for years just so you can keep getting paid.
