Amazon MP3 Store & Droid Charge - "This device does not support multimedia downloads"

When trying to buy music directly from Amazon's website mp3 store, I get a message that my Droid Charge "does not currently support multimedia downloads" and I can't purchase any mp3 files. If I use the Amazon MP3 app, I can buy most of what I'm searching for, but there are still several items that say, "website only". :smileysad:  Since the app provides very little detailed information, I prefer to buy directly from Amazon's website.

Has anyone else run in to this and, if so, did you find a solution to the problem? I've fired off an email to Amazon's help department, but no help yet.

Thanks!

Dear indianafanatic,

After some checking on the Amazon website and in help, it appears that the only method of downloading directly from Amazon to the Charge is through the Amazon mp3 App with Cloud Player.  The only workaround that results in mp3 files on your phone itself is to download to a computer and then sync with the phone.

You can also use Amazon Cloud Drive, but this may cause battery discharge issues if you are on the go during the day (or night) without recharging capabilities.

Thanks, WCMack - I was afraid of that.  The MP3 app leaves so much to be desired that I don't use it.  Artist name, song title, album name and price is about all the app is good for.  Hopefully, something more robust and full-featured will be presented in future offerings...  :smileyindifferent:

I started using the App myself, but then found out it did not support line-out playback. This is not an issue for many people, because they use the jack on top of the phone to plug in earplugs, but I use the car dock a lot to play tunes, and it has a convenient line-out feature in the USB jack on the side of the phone. Unfortunately, only the native player provided with the phone seems to be capable of playing through this line-out feature.
