Android 2.2 / Froyo / FRG22D breaks AAC playback

The 2.2 OTA update broke the ability for my phone to play AAC music.

In 2.1, AAC files played just fine. Now they either just exit out of the music player or show, "Sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file."

It seems that Google knows about the problem:

http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9308

and has a solution:

http://android.git.kernel.org/?p=platform/frameworks/base.git;a=commit;h=16263d9f8cc01392c2f3678b381...

When is Verizon going to roll out the fix or patch?

Can you say, "Regression Testing?"

Thanks.

The sort answer is:  They know about the problems.  The patch helps a little when streaming over WifI, but it still sounds horrable when streaming over 3G.  I do not think Google is going to solve the problem.   Just like they refuse to solve the Infrastructire Wifi Login bug...

I wish I have better news, but it is what it is...
