Android 2.2 Update Communication

DroidDaddy1957
It seems to me that info about this update is difficult at best to find on VZW website, calling *611, etc. Since this will allow some form of "Flash" to finally be used on a cell OS, it will finally enable access to many websites including some important areas of VZW's own. While I do appreciate the reminder to have my cell battery charged in order to accept the OTA update, please take another minute to share this supportive communication to all your customers as to exactly when to accept this OTA update. This is important to users and I for one would appreciate an addendum to this first posting on your VZW website to explain this timing issue, please! Come on, decisions are made, now give it up! Thx and I look forward to all your kind replies.

The update was released on 8-3-2010 and is being rolled out in stages.   For more information on the update click here http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-2.2-highlights.html.  Hope this helps!

I don't think that the VZW rep that posted the message above did more then post boilerplate.

I was on the phone with tech support a few days ago(on a different matter for one of my users) and the tech told me that they have been pushing 2.2 out for a couple of weeks, in waves of users at a time.  She also told me that they didn't stop pushing it out to fix bugs.  Rumors of that were simple rumors.

ha guess Verizon Employees are just as clueless as usual.

And I'm calling **bleep** on the update not being halted.  It went a week without anyone reporting that they received an update.  Something definitely happened.

I know everyone wants to know when the Android 2.2 update will be released.  However, at this time a release date has not been set.  You can sign up for email updates by going to the website and clicking on Sign up for email updates under the Support tab.  By doing this, you will be notified when new products, services and software updates will be available. Hope this helps!

So, you didn't see this posted on the front page of the forums then?

The update has resumed.  This morning, a friend of mine let me know she got her update on her phone and the I checked around the web and it's true.  The roll outs started up again or went into full distribution  last night.  Everything I've seen so far does not state how long the roll out will take or how many people at a time will get it but it is coming.  If I could attach a picture I would but the like below will show what I want to show. The built number is the original FRG01B, not FRG22 for those wondering.  Keep an eye on your Droids, FroYo is coming.
