Annoying sounds

The Charge needs better control of which notification sounds are active.  Two examples:

1.  The sound effects at power on and power off should be able to be disabled separately.  As of now, the only way I can see to disable them is to turn system volume to zero.

2.  The sound effect when the battery charge reaches 100% needs to have a setting to disable it.  Right now, I have had to set all notification sounds to silent to get rid of it.

I would appreciate any info on how to do either of the above by something other than brute force affecting other functions.

As an opinion, I think all of the sounds mentioned above are stupid.  The "full charge" notification is particularly bad since the phone is likely to be charging when I'm sleeping, say in a hotel room when I want to have the alarm available to wake me, but really don't want to be awakened when the battery finishes charging.

On/off sounds seem popular with phone programmers, but most people I know turn them off as soon as they figure out how to do it.

Well Nebular Novice there is no way to turn these sounds off... unless you wish to root your phone... the Charge is new so currenlty there is not any ROMS made for it yet... at least none that I have found, there are however ways to root the phone you can make some changes and get rid of all the verizon bloatware but no way to turn off the sounds you mentioned...

I have had the charge for 7 days of the 14 before I can return it and sorry to say it is not impressive... and maybe going back but I am not sure for what... the thunderbolt has terrible battery life... so it is a toss up!

Good Luck

Thanks for the reply, Robbie.

My message was as much about trying to convince phone programmers either to skip those sounds or give us direct control of them as it was expecting any solution in the current software.  It's just so strange to put out these "advanced" phone without capabilities that exist in "dumb" phones.  I've had specific control of the power on/off sounds in every phone I've ever had until this one -- and the first thing I did was always to turn them off.

I'm in State College, so I do have 4G.  As you note, we're pretty much stuck with the Charge for now.  I don't see the Tbolt as a choice I would make.  If I return the Charge, I'll revert to my old Blackberry for a while.  At least it handles email flexibly.  In fact, the primary reason I might return the Charge is email problems I mentioned in other messages.
