I can try that but the whole reason I moved towards switching 3G and Wifi is because, since the new update, having them both on decimated my battery at home because the stupid phone can't seem to decide whether it wants 3g or wifi so it's constantly battling for dominance and, what once took me two days to drain a battery was taking maybe a day or less.

I might keep data on all the time and have it toggle wifi on and off (or maybe just have it turn off wifi at home, which means I'll have a slow connection).

Honestly, not being able to get past this when only using wifi really almost defeats the purpose of having a smart phone.  It now becomes a "dumb phone" and I have to be smarter to have to use it.  It's supposed to make life EASIER, not more complicated . . .

I see your point.  Both your WiFi and DATA at your home may be weak OR vary as to how strong a signal they are so you phone keeps searching/switching between the two of them them.

A weak phone signal, let's say varying between 0 and 1 bar, decimates the battery too because the phone keeps trying to get a good phone signal.

which messaging app are you using?  is your phone rooted?

I wonder if there is a rogue app that is causing the problem (could be hijacking you MMS service).

are you able to send regular texts?

how about regular data connection (both via wifi and 3G/4G)?

are you only experiencing this when you are at home?  did you try from somewhere else?

1) I'm using the standard messaging app

2) No, it is not

3) It's not impossible but it seems unlikely as I tend to only install larger company apps with good reputation and, unless it's connection type specific, it seems like it's more likely an issue related to 3G and wifi fighting with itself

4) I am able to send regular texts

5)  I have regular data connection (I tend to have a strong, but slow, 3G connection just about everywhere but a somewhat weak wifi connection both at home and at work, even when sitting in front of the router.  This appears to have been a major issue with the most recent firmware update but, to be fair, it seems like it was steadily getting worse prior to that (possibly from the FIRST major update))

6) I am having the picture message problem at work but the battery drain appears to be more prominent at home (weaker wifi signal is likely the cause for that, hence the 3g/wifi fighting).

thanks for your help!

I'm guessing it could be the weak mobile data signal that is causing the issue.  and it sounds like you got the most recent FP1 kernel update.

have you searched on other forums like XDA, or chargeforums?  there are more folks there than here, so you might find someone with similar experiences there.

other than that, there's not much that I can offer to help that VZW will allow me to post....

Heh, point taken on that one.  And I am about at that point so maybe that's the next logical step.

I know doing certain things to a cell phone will void the warranty but my phone is almost out of it's 1 year warranty.  Do you know if having insurance on your phone will still cover the phone if you do that to the phone?

If you pay for insurance they have to cover the device regardless of what happens, even water damage, accidental handling, etc.

I've had that problem as well, but after deleting and resending it will work.  I am having another problem with sending pictures via text. When I hit send the picture flips upside down.  Anyone have any ideas what is happening?
