there's a ton of info on these forums and others if you are really curious to learn how it runs and if you should use a task killer. or you can just take our word for it, and don't mess with an app killer. i had one for months and haven't had one for months. there is no difference in my battery life.

To be honest with you, I don't recommend you have an app killer on your Incredible.

It actually won't help your battery lifeor free up memory.   It will cause battery life to drain even quicker..  If you were to read forums in Android Central, many would be saying the same as I am telling you.  But if you are still wanting one, there are many you can choose in the market..........read the reviews.  Users have the same complaints..........am savng you time and anguish !  Don't do it.

Yes, the battery last longer without an ATK. I won't go into my Apps 101 dissertation, however those apps are not using ANY resources. They are there for a reason.

With an ATK. It looks for open Apps, closes them. The apps open again, the ATK kills them..... this is a vicious cycle that kills the battery.

There are many many things you can do to lengthen the daily battery life.

you say that the apps are there for a reason, may i ask what the reason is for having unwanted apps on your phone?

for example: stocks, facebook, peep, slacker radio, just to name a few that i don't use or want,if i had wanted them

i would have downloaded them

The OS is based on Linux. Unlike Windows, which needs the same info over and over in each program, when an app is opened, it will look elsewhere for the info needed to run and open that app to access it.
The app you opened accesses the info from another app  and the app that was opened ito give it, is just THERE. No add'l memory is being used, CPU resources are not being used and compromised they are just there.
If you download a system monitor, which can kill apps and see the usage of the apps that are open, you will see no resources are being used at all.

Leave it alone, don't kill it. Just ignore it. The phone OS will eventually figure out you are not using it and won't load it into the memory anymore. I have a few applications that like to load in the memory after I turn on the phone. I leave them alone and a few hours later I will check my task manager to see what is in the active cache and what is not. I never open the manager with the intention of killing a background running application. Those applications I mentioned earlier, they are never listed in either the active or inactive cache. The phone needed the resources for other applications so it ended the applications I wasn't using.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
