What I like about the Droid is that it can be set to automatically retrieve local time from the cell network when I travel and change time zones. What's not so great is that when it does this, it changes all the appointment times on the calendar! Example: I live in the Central Time zone, and enter meeting times and flight times, et cetera, all in local time - like any normal person would. But when I travel to California and the Droid picks up that it's in Pacific time, it not only changes the clock on the Droid, it also moves all my appointments by two hours. This is nuts.
Of course, I can "lock" the Droid to Central Time, and then the appointments don't get changed, but then the clock display also stays on Central Time. Does anyone know of an app or a fix for this problem so I can use the automatic time zone option without screwing up my calendar appointments? Thanks!!!

Thanks for trying but this doesn't solve the problem. True, locking the phone to a single time zone does prevent the calendar appointment times from changing. But, what is needed is a simple programming fix that allows the phone to be set to "automatic" in picking up local time zones, while the calendar remains "locked" with the appointment times we travelers have entered. In the past day I have found many discussion threads in Android user forum site that discuss this need. So this is a well-advertised problem. I would hope that Verizon would have enough clout to force Google into developing a software fix to do what people who travel need. Please hear me Verizon: for a regular traveler this is not a minor glitch, it is a huge annoyance.
