Automatic Update - is this Gingerbread?

I left my phone charging over night, and when I woke up, I was surprised to see that it had automatically started downloading updates. It has been going for I would guess three hours now, and it's only at 25%. Is this the Gingerbread update that everyone is talking about on here? Is there any way to stop this update? I just have a feeling that if this thing is going to take the rest of the day to download, it's obviously going to drain my battery, and I'd like to be able to use my phone for something other than updates today. Any answers or advice would be helpful.
Thanks!

I see that you posted in the Android Forum, but your profile shows a Blackberry for your device.
Do you have a Droid now? If so, which model do you have?
Please let us know if you need additional assistance, thanks!

gb was about 150 meg & didn't take too long to download, not like what you're talking about.
