I am up for a upgrade on my phone.  I have the old Moto QM9 and looking to go with the BB (Storm 2) or Droid.  I need had a touch screen so Im not used to that yet.  I know the the Droid they have the slide out keyboard, but it think either way i would get used to the touch screen.  My thing is Im having a hard time choosing which phone I want.  I kind always wanted a BB but think I may like the Droid.  My thing is with the Droid I have hotmail and i dont want to have to which to Gmail.

Help me out with my choice!!

I'm not sure about Hotmail, but with my Droid, I am connected to both Gmail and Charter mail.  I also have my Charter account set up to immediately forward mail from Charter to Gmail, just to be sure I get it.  I also have a Yahoo mail account that I have Gmail download and forward to my Droid.  Bottom line, you should be able to connect your Droid to Hotmail or have Hotmail forward to Gmail.

The Droid is actually my first smartphone. If Verizon didn't have it, I would have gotten a Blackberry though. (Not the Storm.)

But anywho... I absolutely love my Droid. I couldn't ask for a better phone. I think touch screens are very easy to use so you will get used to it. The virtual keyboard on the Droid is great. The physical keyboard isn't the best, but I think it's easier to use once you've tried it out a few times. I especially love having the android market to download apps. There's always great new apps to download!

You can still use your Hotmail account with the Droid if that's one of your concerns.

However, whether or not you're really going to prefer the Droid or a BB just depends on you. I think the best thing you could do would be to go to the store and play around with each of the phones for a bit.

I did to the store last week just to play around with them both but I guess I wnated to stay a litlle longer than I did.  Being able to get to my Hotmail account was one of my concerns the way the salesman had me thinking that that it wouldn't be easy if all I could do it.

After I play with both phones I was more clueless as to which phone I wanted before going in there.  Just in talking to people, it comes to BB or more business and Droid is more fun cooler phone.

Why don't you open a fee gmail account and see how it looks and works.  Then, go to your hotmail setup and see if you can have it forward your email from hotmail to gmail.  That is the easiest way to deal with it.

It's no big deal.  It won't affect you existing hotmail account.  You don't have to use the gmail account if you decide not to.  It takes about 5 minutes to try it and see if your hotmail account will forward to gmail.

You don't have to use gmail on your phone if you do not want to. i don't use gmail at all on my android phone. There is an app called "email" that comes directly installed on the phone. You can just add your hotmail through that. i use my yahoo mail always through that email app.  You can easily add hotmail in without a problem and not use gmail.

I would say get the Droid phone. It simply rocks! Many cool other features to offer. You'll have access to the android market to download apps. Most are for free.

At first i bought a storm 2 since i was a BB user for over a year I thought the touch screen phone would be awesome. Don't get me wrong it is a great phone and can do alot. However, a friend a work has a G1 android phone and when I sa what more his phone can do than the Storm2 i just got I returned my storm2 and got the Moto Droid. The Droid has far more interconnectablity to it and customization to it. Overall i would say for a buisness user the Storm2 is the way to go, but for a normal techy like me I am now an Android lover and wont go back to BB.

I'm a current Blackberry Curve 8330 owner and I can't wait to switch over to Android once VZW gets the Incredible or N1. My BB Curve has been rock solid ever since I got it, but to be honest, it's kind of boring because there isn't a whole lot it can do. Also, it's pretty much an antique now compared to the technology in today's phones. I think RIM is getting left behind in terms of hardware, software, and applications development. Their flag ship device is the Storm2 and that came out over a year ago. Where's the progress? What have they been working on? No one knows. At least with Android you can see the progress because it's open source. I see Android becoming the #1 mobile OS in 2-3 years unless Google decides to pull the plug for some reason.
